KeNHA

Backup power and infrastructure across nine weighbridge sites, nationwide.

Challenge

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) enforces axle-load limits that protect the national road network from nine physical weighbridges across Kenya. Each site depends on continuous power for its weighing instruments, control, data capture and security, and several sit far from reliable grid supply — so a power interruption at any one halts enforcement and loses data at that location.

Solution

Proactive Networks enhanced the resilience and efficiency of the nine weighbridges — in collaboration with Ebenezer Commercial Works, Interways Works Ltd. and Geru Engineers — covering power backup, security and environmental control: UPS, generators, fire extinguishers, air conditioning, biometric access control and IP CCTV.

The core work installed 11× 20kVA UPS across the sites, and Proactive Networks now provides preventive maintenance for 13× 20kVA UPS at weighbridges across the country.

Outcome

Enforcement continues across the network on power and infrastructure maintained to a common standard, with preventive maintenance aimed at over 95% uptime so business continuity holds even in unforeseen circumstances. Remote stations receive the same disciplined attention as accessible ones.

Equipment
